Negotiations Remain at an Impasse

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1172875--talks-between-ontario-and-doctors-at-a-standstill

This article has quotes from both sides but I definitely think the most quoteworth is:

“The credit rating agencies reminded us just recently we have a tough agenda when it comes to getting back to balance. Part of that includes asking doctors, who are making on average $385,000 a year, to say, ‘Let’s take a pause. Any additional spending should be supporting people at home.'"

This quote comes from none other than Deb Matthews. I think everyone would agree that $385,000 annually is a BIG stretch, to say the least. If you are one of the lucky ones that fall into that range it still doesn't take into account office, staff and supply overhead. Either way this statement shows that there is a large gap at the bargaining table.
